Paradis Park 5K Adventure Run benefitting GOTR

Hello GOTR fans!

We are in the process of planning a 5K to celebrate our 45 girls this season! Details are listed on website - www.jacogotr.org . This event is OPEN to the public, ANYONE can RUN!! Also, we need volunteers for race day as well as sponsors. You can sponsor as an individual or a business. This season we offered the program for $30 ($100 cheaper than national recommends). To run the program, we average $160/girl. As you can see, we need to raise lots of money.

Our 5K's are the major fundraisers we have, so PLEASE consider sponsoring. We have packages available for as little as $50.
Change a girls life!

  1. Imagine never having the opportunity to play outside. Imagine never being able to run down the block, ride your bike to your friends house, or even play in the park near by. This is the reality of the girls who are running in the program located within the inner city of Kansas City. Most of these girls have never had the opportunity to be involved in a sport prior to girls on the run. The first day of practice the most of the girls showed up in their school uniform because they did not have any idea of what running is like, or even participating in a sport. However, these amazing girls have not let anything stop them from running full force. During the beginning of the season we ran only in our parking lot at school (16 laps = 1mile). With no background of sports it was not safe to take them off school grounds just yet. Recently however we have been able to venture to the near by park to run in a much larger area. The girls pushed themselves to make the goal of running in the park. I cannot express just how proud I am of these girls and how thankful I am for them to have this opportunity. Daily I have more and more girls wanting to be a part of this program, and the older girls are begging for a program aimed at their age group. The fact is girls want opportunities, and want to be involved. They want to change their lives, live a healthy lifestyle, make good choices, and prevent harmful behaviors. We as adults need to be willing to give the girls the keys to success. We need to be willing to invest our time into these young girls so they can grow to be strong women. It is the girls I am working with now that will change this community of the inner city in the future. Without adults investing their lives there will be no change.
I am so excited for the upcoming 5k. Please come out and sponsor these girls. Help give opportunities for girls who may never have been able to run and play before.
